Dude Train begins operation.
1892
A special commuter train operated by the Boston & Maine Railroad for wealthy subscribers, it runs from Gloucester into Boston in the morning and back in the afternoon. According to Joseph Garland, one subscriber has his chauffeur drop him off at Magnolia station, then drive into Boston and pick him up at North Station and drive him to his office just so that he can take part in the regular card game with his fellow passengers. The line ceases operation some time after the end of World War I.
